Postcard #2: Baguio City—The Philippines

I got a pretty postcard of Baguio City from my pen-pal Maerose in Quezon City, The Philippines. She's a  young teacher who loves collecting postcards and stamps, just like me. She told me that she's having her summer vacation and wished to visit the Summer Capital of Baguio City where the temperature there never exceed 18º C.

I think correspondence is a good way to expand my horizon about this world. From Maerose, I know for the first time about summer capital. Yes, summer capital is a new thing for me. How embarrassing I never knew that term before, even I graduated from Urban Planning degree!
During the American occupation in the early 20th century, Baguio, located in northern Luzon and developed by the Americans for its cool climate became the summer capital of the Philippines, an alternative to the de facto capital Manila.

Maerose used 5 nice small stamps of fishes for the postage. Four stamps of Manta Ray (Manta birostris) and a stamp of Blue-ringed Angelfish (Pomacanthus annularis). The postmark is nice as well :).

Maraming salamat, Maerose! Hope you can taste the strawberries of Baguio City!
