Postcard #13: Vlaai—The Netherlands

Every region in the world has its own typical foods. Vlaai that can be seen on Peggy's postcard to me is a typical food from southern region of the Netherlands. Vlaai, better know as Limburgse Vlaii is a pie or tart consisting of a pastry or filling. According to Peggy's writing on the back of the postcard, a whole vlaai is round and comes in many varieties. In its original form, its bottom is made of dough and has a full or partly covered top (like seen in the postcard). It often has a fruit filling like apple, cherry, or apricot. It looks so yummy, doesn't it? :)

The card's stamped with 3 different stamps. From left to right: Telefooncirkel, comic strips by Martin Konder, and Viltroos flower stamp. All 3 stamps are issued in 1990's! :D

Dank je wel, Peggy!
